The soccer euphoria has increased the sales of products associated to the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, such as TVs and T-shirts in Peru. Of course, it has been 36 years since the last time the Peruvian national soccer team made it to this international event.

“The Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) reported that, in April, television imports reached a record of 216,000. 90% of consumers concentrated the demand on 50 and 55-inch appliances, registering growth rates between 100% and 180%, respectively”, Perú 21 said.
According to Diogenes Alva, a Gamarra textile entrepreneur, just during the elimination phase of the World Cup 3 million shirts were sold. He hopes that this number increases to 4 million by the end of the event.

Among other data, the consultant Kantar Worldpanel informed that the real estate market could grow 2.5% at the end of the year because of the World Cup and the progress of the construction sector. Beverages, snacks, and beer consumption would grow 30% in Peru during the World Cup period as well.

“During Brazil 2014, beverages, beers, and piqueos grew 15% or 20% during the tournament in Peru, even though we did not participate in that tournament”, Perú 21 informed.
The travel sector will benefit as well since Russia has become a popular destination because of the tournament. Within 23 days of the World Cup, a one-week package in Russia that includes car rental, travel insurance, city-to-city mobility, three-star hotel and airline tickets could cost from $3,500 to $4,000 US dollars, according to Perú 21.
