Once again, Peru has been named the best country on earth to eat delicious dishes.
For the 6th year in a row, Peru has been named the world’s top culinary destination by World Travel Awards. This time, Peru beat important competitors such as Argentina, Australia, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, and the United States. Peru has become a very important country in South America when it comes to food, turning into 2017’s boom on a global scale with Super Foods.
Investment in cuisine has been one of the reasons behind the success in Peruvian kitchens according to former Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magali Silva. Each year, multiple Peruvian restaurants end up at the top of the list of most popular places to dine and have lunch in the world. This year has not been different with three restaurants making the list: Central, Maido, and Astrid y Gastón.
Each restaurant exemplifies different aspects of Peru’s diverse culture and culinary creativity.
It has not been the first award won by Peru this year, aside from the culinary destination award, Peru also won the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction, South America’s Leading Green Destination, and South America’s Leading Tourist Board.
