The Peruvian national soccer team started their training in Lima for the friendly matches against Scotland, Saudi Arabia, and Sweden, which will prepare them for their participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The team’s technical director, Ricardo Gareca, received the players of the Liga MX Raul Ruidíaz, Pedro Aquino, Luis Advíncula and Pedro Gallese in the National Sports Village. “These players performed medical exams to then perform exercises in the field”, Excelsior informed yesterday.
The Blanquirroja team will receive Scotland at the National Stadium in Lima on May 29 and then it will travel to Altach in Austria and Gothenburg to face Saudi Arabia and Sweden on June 3 and 9 respectively.
These friendly matches will prepare them for the World Cup that begins in Russia on June 14, and Peru’s first match will take place on the 16 against Denmark.
One of the players, Pedro Gallese, said that they are still waiting on the decision of the Arbitral Tribunal of Sport (TAS) on the sanction that the Andean captain, Paolo Guerrero, has for doping, assuring that they expect to have his presence in the maximum soccer encounter in the world.
“We need him in the group”, Gallese said to Excelsior, referring to Paolo and believing that he and the team expect the best outcome for his situation, and they wish him the best.
