The Peruvian government seeks to strengthen regional and bilateral integration with Mexico in the context of the Pacific Alliance, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of the South American country, Néstor Popolizio.

This year, Peru will be commemorating 200 years of independence and Popolizio said, regarding this event that “this bicentennial that you began to celebrate in 2010 and will culminate with us, is leading us to a process of reflection on the challenges and responsibilities of our young republics.”

Popolizio made this statement during the “Fray Melchor de Talamantes, Peruvian precursor of the Independence of Mexico” event, celebrated in the Mexican chancellery on the occasion of its 210th anniversary.

He added that this “is an opportunity that history gives us to define the path we want to travel and the new directions that our countries must take, always aimed at strengthening our bilateral and regional integration, especially within the framework of the Pacific Alliance”, according to La Jornada.
