Yesterday, the Peruvian hinchas celebrated having won the FIFA “The Best” award for being the best fans (Best Supporter) in the world for the 2017-2018 season.
“We’re Peru, and we are back!” they chanted at the top of their lungs all over the world. The ceremony took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, in the United Kingdom, and five Peruvian fans were the lucky ones to receive the award.
“This award is for all Peruvians, especially for our brothers of the Blanquirroja to which we belong to and who made all of this possible,” said one of them, according to BBC.
Peru participated in this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, after 36 years of absence. For the fans, it was thanks to the help of their families “who tirelessly helped us in this passion” that Peruvians were encouraged in every corner of the country.
The other nominees for The Best award for the “Best Supporter” were fans from Japan and Senegal, and individually the Chilean Sebastian Carrera, who traveled 1,500 km to see his team play.
