Three professionals from the Universidad Nacional Agraria de la Selva, located in the city of Tingo María, in the Huánuco region, have designed a new digital technology that allows mining companies to monitor their environmental performance in real time.

It consists of a mobile and web app that allows constant monitoring of the environmental situation to see if it is in compliance with the standards. The goal is to mitigate incidents and damages to the environment.
Franklin Dionisio Montalvo, José Luis Paredes Salazar and Brian Pando Soto are the creators of this app”, according to Andina News Agency. They named their initiative Environmental Quality Control, which was presented in the Fourth Hackatón “Open innovation for the challenges of the energy mining sector”, which they won.

This was a contest organized by the National Mining, Petroleum and Energy Society (SNMPE) and the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC), with the support of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP) and the Ministry of Production.

The app will send alerts to the mines’ operators when the monitoring indicators show proximity to the values of environmental regulations.
