President Martín Vizcarra said to the press that it is possible to hold general elections in Peru in 2020 even though many don’t believe it can be done, according to El Peruano.
“I believe that it is feasible to hold elections in a year”, Vizcarra said in Iquitos on Friday. He also added that there is also enough time to organize a referendum.
“There they say: It can’t be done, it won’t be achieved. Look at what a coincidence, they are the same ones that said that the Pan Americans could not be done”, he told the press last week.
Vizcarra added that the only thing that is required is political will for the people to pronounce themselves and produce a change of authorities with a vision of the bicentennial, “to finally achieve the consensus that Peru requires to, in harmony, lay the foundations for the development of the country”.
