Temperature Rises in Several Regions in Peru

Starting today and until February 5 temperatures will rise in several regions in Peru, reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius, according to the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamih).

This rising of the temperature will occur in 12 coastal regions, as well as sierra and jungle areas in the northern part of the country.
In the San Martin Region, says Andina, the temperature increase will take place until Sunday, February 4, but it could last longer.

Also, rainfall will be at its minimum, especially in the sierra de Piura, Lambayeque and north of Cajamarca regions.

The provinces that have been warned are “Bagua, Bongará, Chachapoyas, Condorcanqui, Luya, Rodríguez de Mendoza, and Uctubamba (Amazonas); Aija, Antonio Raymondi, Asunción, Carhuaz, Carlos F. Fitzcarrald, Casma, Corongo, Huaraz, Huari, Huaylas, Mariscal Luzuriaga, Pallasca, Santa, Sihuas, and Yungay (Áncash); Cajabamba, Cajamarca, Celendín, Chota, Contumazá, Cutervo, Hualgayoc, Jaén, San Marcos, San Miguel, San Pablo, and Santa Cruz (Cajamarca).”, according to information from Andina.
Among other cities are: Huacaybamba, Huamalíes, Huánuco, Leoncio Prado, and Puerto Inca (Huánuco); Ascope, Bolívar, Chepén, Gran Chimú, Julcán, Otuzco, Pacasmayo, Pataz, Sánchez Carrión, Santiago de Chuco, Trujillo, and Virú (La Libertad); Chiclayo, Lambayeque, and Ferreñafe (Lambayeque).
Senamih also warned the provinces of Alto Amazonas: Datem del Marañón, Loreto, Maynas, Putumayo, Requena, and Ucayali (Loreto); Oxapampa (Pasco); Ayabaca, Huancabamba, Morropón, Paita, Piura, Sechura, Sullana, and Talara (Piura); Bellavista, El Dorado, Huallaga, Lamas, Mariscal Cáceres, Moyobamba, Picota, Rioja, San Martín, ans Tocache (San Martín); Contralmirante Villar, Tumbes y Zarumilla (Tumbes) y Coronel Portillo, and Padre Abad (Ucayali).
Along with the heat, people need to watch out for intense solar rays. “Solar radiation in Peru has increased during the last decade, with extremely high values”, describes RPP Noticias. This type of radiation is energy that comes from the sun, also known as short-wave radiation, and sunlight is the main source of ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
